Overview
Hawaii Foodservice Alliance (HFA) is Hawai‘i’s largest local supplier of perishable foods and logistics, serving grocers, retailers, and communities across the islands.
We are seeking a data-driven Buyer II to support procurement and inventory planning for fast-moving refrigerated and perishable products including dairy, eggs, and refrigerated grocery categories.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, forecasting demand, analyzing inventory movement, and making operational purchasing decisions in a high-volume environment. The position plays a direct role in maintaining product availability across Hawai‘i while balancing spoilage risk, service levels, margins, and supply chain timing.
While this role focuses heavily on perishables, it also offers the opportunity to gain broader exposure across purchasing operations, supply chain strategy, vendor management, category planning, and other areas of the business as you continue to grow within the organization.
This is not an entry-level position and requires prior experience in purchasing, procurement, inventory management, or supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Generate and manage purchase orders using sales trends, inventory movement, and demand forecasts
- Monitor inventory performance including spoilage, shrink, turns, and product availability
- Analyze purchasing trends, margins, and inventory data to support operational decisions
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimizing excess and product loss
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely deliveries
- Identify inventory discrepancies, shortages, and supply chain risks proactively
- Support promotional planning and inventory allocation strategies
- Build strong vendor relationships and communicate across multiple operational teams
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, inventory management, or related field
- Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret inventory and purchasing data
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume operational environments
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and make timely business decisions
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in food distribution, grocery, or perishable inventory environments
- Experience with forecasting, replenishment planning, or demand planning
- Advanced Excel, reporting, or inventory analytics experience
- Experience managing refrigerated or time-sensitive product categories
