Responsibilities
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, and prosthodontics.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following infection prevention management and aseptic techniques.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) and operate medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners to support accurate diagnoses.
- Manage patient records using patient management software like Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or other EMR systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Monitor vital signs and assist with patient care before, during, and after procedures to ensure safety and comfort.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment by processing dental instruments and adhering to infection control standards.
- Support the dental reception by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and answering patient inquiries with professionalism.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, four-handed dentistry, and dental instrument processing.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical documentation, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience operating dental equipment such as X-ray machines, sterilizers, intraoral cameras, and 3D scanners.
- Familiarity with dental software Dentrix for patient records management.
- Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control practices including aseptic technique and infection control protocols.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry settings.
- Knowledge of clinical confidentiality policies to protect patient privacy at all times.
