Job Summary
Join our dynamic dental team as a Dental Assistant and play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care! In this energetic position, you will support dentists during clinical procedures, ensure smooth clinic operations, and uphold the highest standards of infection control and patient confidentiality. Your expertise in dental assisting, combined with your enthusiasm for healthcare, will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and cared for. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all dental equipment is ready for procedures in accordance with infection prevention management and aseptic techniques
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of treatments including oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry procedures
- Take and develop dental x-rays and 3D scans while adhering to dental x-ray safety protocols and radiation safety standards
- Record detailed medical and dental histories, vital signs, and treatment notes using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for clinical confidentiality policies
- Process dental instruments through proper sterilization procedures following infection control guidelines to maintain a sterile environment
- Support administrative tasks including medical documentation, coding procedures for insurance purposes, and maintaining accurate medical records in Epic or similar systems
- Assist with dental instrument processing, ensuring all tools are properly cleaned, sterilized, and stored according to healthcare infection prevention standards
- Educate patients on oral health practices and post-treatment care instructions using clear dental terminology and anatomy knowledge
Experience
- Prior experience working in a dental clinic setting is highly preferred
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential for managing patient data efficiently
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Hands-on experience with dental x-ray techniques, including intraoral and panoramic imaging
- Understanding of infection prevention management and aseptic techniques within a clinical environment
- Experience assisting in pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics or general dentistry is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and healthcare professionals
- Ability to follow detailed clinical confidentiality policies while maintaining a professional demeanor
