Job Overview:
Local company seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer/CNC Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent project management skills, and have a strong background in CNC machining and design engineering. This role will involve helping to manage schedules, leading projects, and overseeing team performance to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality security products. This position will contribute to the new and existing product development by designing mechanisms and complex assemblies using latest toolsets and industry leading best practices. In particular, this position will be crucial in our company’s growth process—Working directly with our executive team to collaborate on existing and new projects/development. Ideal candidate must be able to effectively build and maintain/manage production schedule and achieve deadlines. Must be able to perform well under pressure.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering and CNC machining. Specifically, in an electromechanical CAD design position in a regulated industry
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
- Extensive experience with CNC programming and operation. Understanding of machine design (Capable of Programming and Operating Haas CNC Mills and Lathes)
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of managing complex projects and scheduling.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- SolidWorks proficiency with demonstrated capability to produce complex parts and assemblies
- Experience with 2D and 3D tolerance analysis and stack-up
- Experience with DFx (e.g., design for assembly, manufacturing, reliability, serviceability)
- SolidWorks PDM and workflow experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- A passion for continuous improvement and design/new product creation
Responsibilities: (include but are not limited to)
- Design parts and assemblies (generating CAD models, detail designs (in SolidWorks), implementing design for assembly (DFA) and design for manufacturing (DFM), and creating drawings and BOMs.
- Setting up and managing complex mechanical CAD models, practices
- Driving the CAD best practices
- As part of the admin group, assist in administration of SolidWorks and PDM
- This is a collaborative opportunity where you will work cross-functionally with internal teams and external vendors
- Construct and manage high quality and robust CAD models, BOMs and DMRs, prepare and implement ECO’s
- Take system from prototype stage to the manufacturing stage
- Provide detailed design and drawings and models for production level engineering requirements, including component specifications, procurement, inspection documents, and assembly instructions.
- Creates CAD best practices, trains team on such practices
- Support R&D engineering needs, design updates and refinement
- Investigates, proposes, procures, and implement new and leading-edge CAD tools
- PDM and SolidWorks administration, upgrading software, and address issues
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
