Duties
- Perform thorough dental examinations, including patient assessment and diagnosis, utilizing advanced medical imaging and dental terminology.
- Deliver a wide range of pediatric dental treatments such as dental cleanings, restorations, dental extractions, root canal therapy, and prosthodontics tailored to children’s needs.
- Conduct oral surgery procedures with aseptic technique and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety.
- Utilize electronic health record systems like Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix to document medical records accurately while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with patients’ families to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and post-treatment care using clear client communication skills.
- Administer sedation or anesthesiology services when necessary for complex procedures or anxious patients.
- Maintain high standards of infection control, sterilization procedures, and medical documentation throughout all clinical activities.
- Assist in dental fabrication processes such as crowns or orthodontic appliances when applicable.
- Stay current with advancements in pediatric dentistry, including dental implants, oral surgery techniques, endodontics, and orthodontics to provide the best possible care.
Requirements
- Valid state license to practice dentistry with specialization in pediatric dentistry.
- Proven experience in general dentistry with a focus on pediatric patients; prior dental clinic experience preferred.
- Proficiency in dental office software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, or Dentrix for efficient patient management.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy relevant to oral health, and infection control standards.
- Ability to perform dental extractions, root canal therapy, orthodontic procedures, and other advanced treatments confidently.
- Excellent client communication skills to educate young patients and their families effectively.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and state healthcare laws governing pediatric dental practices.
