Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including slicing, chopping, and assembling ingredients using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Follow recipes accurately to ensure consistent meal quality and presentation
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, mixers, and food processors
- Prepare meals according to menu plans while adhering to food safety standards and dietary guidelines
- Maintain cleanliness by cleaning workstations, utensils, equipment, and ensuring proper sanitation throughout the kitchen
- Support catering events by preparing large quantities of food and assisting with serving duties
- Communicate effectively with kitchen staff to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth workflow during busy periods
Skills
- Prior experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is highly desirable
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety management
- Knowledge of menu planning and recipe adherence for various dietary needs
- Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Excellent knife skills with proficiency in slicing techniques for various ingredients
- Ability to follow safety standards in production environments and handle food responsibly
- Effective communication skills to collaborate seamlessly with kitchen team members
- Previous restaurant or food service experience is a plus, demonstrating familiarity with fast-paced environments
- Catering experience or serving background enhances ability to support diverse food service operations
