We are seeking a fellowship-trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist who is ready to join a team that values collaboration over hierarchy, professional growth over stagnation, and a life well lived outside the OR as much as inside it.
The Clinical Opportunity
This is a full-scope position anchored in cardiac anesthesia, with meaningful breadth across the entire subspecialty spectrum. You will not be siloed.
Cardiac and Structural Heart
- Established cardiac surgery program with a core mix of coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, and bread-and-butter open-heart cases, with increasing advanced case complexity over time
- Active structural heart program including TAVR and MitraClip, with programmatic growth underway
General Anesthesia Coverage (Non-Cardiac Days)
- Full general OR coverage provides variety and prevents the narrow-scope fatigue that can come with purely subspecialty practice
- Case mix includes obstetric anesthesia, regional anesthesia, major vascular, thoracic, and straightforward pediatric cases
- We recognize that every anesthesiologist has areas they find more rewarding than others — there is genuine flexibility to shape which general case types are part of your rotation
Why This Position Is Different
Work-Life Balance, Actually We mean it. This is not a 70-hour-week cardiac program with a line in the job description about “balance.” Our scheduling model is designed to protect your time, and the group actively holds each other accountable to that. You will have a life.
A Group You’ll Want to Show Up For The department is young, dynamic, and genuinely likes each other. That matters more than most job descriptions admit. There is no old guard to navigate, no entrenched politics to outlast — just motivated clinicians building a department together.
System Backing That Opens Doors Henry Ford Health is a robust, well-resourced system with infrastructure, innovation capital, and a growing regional footprint. The resources are real, and so are the opportunities they create.
Career Architecture, Not Just a Job This is a platform, not a posting. Whether your ambitions run toward subspecialty leadership, quality and patient safety work, administrative and medical directorship roles, system-level committee involvement, academic appointment, or simply becoming the best cardiac anesthesiologist in the region. There is room here to build the career you actually want. The path is yours to design.
