Day Surgery at RiverBend is a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center located on the PeaceHealth RiverBend Hospital campus.
We are looking for a Operating Room RN to join our team at our JCAHO accredited facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing perioperative care to patients in the ambulatory surgery center. The ideal candidate will have experience in the OR setting and be knowledgeable in the latest surgical techniques. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about providing quality care and is committed to helping our patients recover quickly and safely.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, pain levels, and overall condition before, during, and after surgery.
- Provide patient education regarding pre- and post-operative care.
- Administer medications as prescribed by the physician.
- Perform wound care and dressing changes as needed.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the physician.
- Ensure that all equipment is functioning properly and is in compliance with ASPAN ,
- OSBN, and JCAHO standards.
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families.
Qualifications
- Current RN License
- Proficient in patient care and assessment
- Experience in OR
- Skilled in medication administration and IV insertion
- Understanding of physiology and airway management principles
- ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES – OPERATING ROOM
- Ensures patient readiness for surgery including, but not limited to, NPO status, medication administration, surgical site verification and marking and chart completeness.
- Implements plan of care safely and effectively and provides safe environment, including, but not limited to: 1) Positioning patient safely, padding bony prominences and ensuring respiratory and circulatory protection. 2) Ensuring correct prepping and draping procedures. 3) Conducting “time-out” process prior to incision to ensure correct patient, correct, procedures, and correct surgical site. 4) Ensuring asepsis during all procedures. Opens and presents sterile items to sterile field utilizing aseptic technique; ensures supplies have not expired. 5) Accounting for all sponges, needles, sharps, during and after the procedures and documenting appropriately.
- Demonstrates competence in preparing and cleaning the operating rooms before, between, and after cases.
- Appropriately manages and accurately records and labels specimens
- Can perform all duties of a circulating room nurse.
- Gives thorough report of patient’s intra-operative condition to PACU nurse
- Collaborates with other members of the surgical team to ensure efficient turn-around time between each procedure.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45.00 - $53.00 per hour
