Café Cook (Full-Time/Part-Time, M–F, Day-time Hours)
Location: University of Colorado Boulder East Campus
We're a locally owned café on CU Boulder's campus looking to add a dependable Cook to our growing kitchen team.
About the Position
In this role, you'll work closely with our Kitchen Lead Cook and owners to support daily kitchen operations. This position combines assisting on the line during service with food prep and assembly of grab-and-go items for our satellite location.
You'll be hands-on throughout the day — helping keep service moving smoothly while also supporting production for the second café — in a fast-paced but organized kitchen environment.
Schedule & Pay
· Monday–Friday, daytime shifts
· No nights, weekends, or federal holidays
· Hours and weekly schedule fluctuate with our university-adjacent seasonal demand, with some opportunity for overtime during peak periods
· Pay: $19–$24/hour, depending on experience
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare fresh ingredients daily, including chopping, portioning, sauces, and cooking proteins
· Assemble sandwiches, salads, and grab-and-go items to café standards
· Assist the Kitchen Lead Cook during busy service periods
· Maintain consistency with recipes and portion sizes
· Follow food safety and sanitation standards
· Keep stations clean, stocked, organized, and running efficiently
What We're Looking For
· Previous commercial kitchen experience preferred
· Comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced cafe environment
· Strong knife skills and general food prep knowledge
· Experience preparing sauces/dressings and cooking proteins
· Knows how to follow recipes and prep standards consistently
· Understanding of portion control and consistency
· Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
· Dependability and punctuality are essential in our small team
· Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
