Duties
- Perform interventional procedures such as nerve blocks, epidural injections, radiofrequency ablations, and spinal cord stimulator placements to alleviate pain.
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including detailed medical histories and physical examinations focused on pain diagnosis.
- Utilize medical imaging technologies like fluoroscopy and ultrasound to guide precise interventions.
- Collaborate seamlessly with healthcare professionals across specialties such as anesthesiology, neurology, orthopedics, and radiology to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Manage patient progress through follow-up evaluations, adjusting treatment strategies as needed for optimal outcomes.
- Document all procedures and patient interactions accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or EMR/EHR platforms.
- Educate patients about their conditions, treatment options, and post-procedure care to ensure informed decision-making and compliance.
Experience
- Medical degree from an accredited institution with completion of residency in anesthesiology, neurology, or a related specialty.
- Post-residency experience specializing in interventional pain management with demonstrated proficiency in minimally invasive techniques.
- Hands-on experience with medical imaging modalities including fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT scans, and radiology reports interpretation.
- Familiarity with EHR systems such as Epic or EMR/EHR platforms for documentation and patient record management.
- Knowledge of healthcare diagnosis processes across multiple disciplines including anesthesiology, neurology, orthopedics, and oncology.
- Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop integrated care plans.
- Strong understanding of clinical research protocols related to pain management and new interventional therapies.
- Prior inpatient or outpatient clinical experience in hospital settings or specialized pain clinics is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform procedures requiring aseptic technique, suturing skills, and basic life support (BLS) certification.
