Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated PCA/Respite Aide to provide essential personal care and support to individuals with diverse needs. Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and independence.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support medication administration under supervision or as trained, ensuring proper handling and adherence to care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen area.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON> to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance.
- Engage clients in social activities or recreational programs to foster mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning patient areas, laundry, and general sanitation tasks.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement personalized care plans that address specific health conditions like dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, or developmental disabilities.
- Support patients during emergencies or health crises by administering first aid or CPR when necessary.
- Document all care activities accurately while respecting client confidentiality and HIPAA standards.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively.
- Strong understanding of medication administration procedures and care plan implementation.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts.
- Excellent communication skills for working with individuals with disabilities, dementia, autism, or other special needs.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
- Experience in providing Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice support, or long-term resident assistance preferred.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities including meal preparation, cleaning, patient monitoring, and assisting with ADLs confidently.
- Basic first aid certification along with CPR training required; additional certifications in nursing or home health are advantageous.
