About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Heat Treatment Technician to manage the heat treatment process for a variety of metal components. In this role, you will operate and maintain heat treatment furnaces, ensuring parts meet required specifications through precise temperature control and quality checks. Your expertise in material science and attention to detail will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and performance of our products.
Responsibilities
- Operate heat-treating furnaces, flame-hardening machines, and induction machines to temper, harden, and anneal metal components.
- Monitor furnace performance, adjusting temperature controls to meet material and process requirements, ensuring optimal heat distribution and adherence to specifications.
- Conduct hardness testing and visual inspections to verify the quality of heat-treated parts, documenting results and reporting any non-conformances.
- Perform routine maintenance on heat treatment equipment, including cleaning, replacing tooling, and troubleshooting basic mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
- Load and unload heat treat product, ensuring proper handling and placement to prevent damage and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of heat treatment processes, including temperature settings, cycle times, and material specifications, to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Collaborate with team members to address part compliance and equipment issues, implementing corrective actions to improve process efficiency and product quality.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and move throughout the department for extended periods.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools to set up presses and equipment.
- Prior experience in a heat treatment or manufacturing environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of SPC tracking, blueprint reading, and quality inspection techniques.
- Experience with preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of heat treatment equipment.
