The Family Service Coach (FSC) will monitor and support Family and health services for their respective centers (Yakima). This position will promote parent involvement through collaborative partnerships with classroom teachers and parents which will encourage the education, social and emotional development of ECEAP families. This person will engage in providing education and information to classroom staff and to the children and families served in the program. The FSC will ensure all work is done in accordance with ECEAP Performance Standards, USDA requirements and state licensing requirements and agency policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. In coordination with and under the direction of the Center Manager the Family Services/ Health Coach will ensure adherence to health, nutrition, safety and family services standards as defined by ECEAP Performance Standards in accordance with work plan and policies and procedures.
2. Provide day-to-day support to staff to ensure compliance and quality of health, nutrition, and safety services. Monitor and provide follow-up for health, nutrition and safety activities in conjunction with the Center Manager.
3. Assure implementation of all health activities including individualized health care plans, referrals and follow up.
4. Provide direct support to staff for full utilization of the Child Plus system for all health, nutrition, and safety activities.
5. Ensure timely, accurate documentation and reporting of health, nutrition, and safety areas, and proactively addressing concerns as they emerge.
6. Provide for and/or coordinate implementation of health screenings.
7. Assure implementation of all health activities including individualized health care plans, referrals and follow-up.
8. In collaboration with the Center Manager, the Health & Nutrition Content Specialist and the Family Service Teacher, assist families in obtaining well-child exams, up-to-date immunizations, dental exams, and required screenings for enrolled children.
9. In coordination with the Center Management team, plan, conduct and evaluate staff training.
10. In collaboration with the Health & Nutrition Content Specialist and the Family Services Teacher participate in family staffing and multi-disciplinary team/IEP meetings as requested.
11. Assist the CM, TL, FST to assemble and maintain the Child and Family file assuring that the files are kept confidential.
12. Provide and track health sections of the file.
13. In collaboration with the Health & Nutrition Content Specialist and CM establish a monitoring system to ensure all children attending the program have up to date immunizations.
14. Collaborate with the Family Engagement Content Specialist and Center Manager in the implementation of the family partnership as described in the Parent Family and Community Engagement Framework; process that identifies needs, interests, strengths, goals, services and resources that support family well-being, including family safety, health; and aspirations related to the family engagement outcomes family partnership agreement process.
15. Provide teachers with support in reviewing family goals, evaluate and adjust strategies on an ongoing basis, as necessary.
16. In collaboration with the Family Engagement Specialist provide guidance and support to Family Services Teachers in implementing Mobility Mentoring, including training, coaching on assessments and goal-setting with families, and monitoring for alignment with ECEAP Performance Standards.
17. Enroll potential families and determine program eligibility as defined by ECEAP Performance Standards in an accurate and timely manner.
18. Be an active member of the center management team by preparing for and participating in site-based staff meetings, parent meetings, Family Nights, Fatherhood events, and all other center activities as required.
19. Serve on other applicable community committees, boards, etc. as approved by supervisor.
20. Ensure that EPIC’s early childhood programs are operating at a high level of quality at all times so that children’s welfare, safety and school readiness are of primary focus.
21. Ensure that proper reporting procedures, tracking and documentation for Child Abuse and Neglect and HIPPA laws are followed as required by agency policy, state law and ECEAP requirements. This includes instances of unprofessional behavior, child abuse and neglect, failure to supervise and other policy violations involving staff.
22. Provide and maintain a safe, healthy, responsive, trauma-sensitive, and nurturing learning environment for all children by modeling professional behavior, open communication, embodying EPIC’s Core Values and utilizing effective conflict resolution skills.
23. Perform classroom and other duties, as a priority, when needed.
24. Participate in the agency’s plan for ongoing program monitoring and self-assessment activities, to determine program trends or issues and strategize to ensure completion of follow-up.
25. In conjunction with the management team collaborate with key community partners including school districts, Department of Early Learning (DEL), health agencies and others.

Conditions of Employment:
Prior to employment, complete a pre-employment drug screen, Tb skin test by an EPIC approved healthcare provider at no cost to the employee.

Meet the minimum education requirements within the timeframe as stated in the performance standards.
- Minimum of an AA with the equivalent of 30 college quarter credits of adult education, human development, human services, family support, social work, early childhood education, child development, psychology, or another field directly related to their job responsibilities OR commit to a training plan established through Staff Development to meet this goal within 5 years of hire.
- At least three years of demonstrated related experience working in an ECEAP/Head Start/Migrant Head Start, childcare or other comparable programs
- Ability to work with minimal direction from supervisor
- Experience with low-income families
- Fluent bilingual skills (English/Spanish) Preferred
