The Donations Ambassador plays a key role in ensuring a positive and efficient donation experience for all donors at the ReStore. This position is responsible for greeting and assisting donors during the drop-off process, inspecting donated items for quality and suitability, and supporting the ReStore team with donation processing, organization, and merchandising.
The Donations Ambassador serves as a visible representative of Habitat for Humanity of Orange County (Habitat OC), providing excellent customer service and communicating the mission of Habitat OC to donors, shoppers, and volunteers.
Donor Relations & Customer Service

Greet and engage donors in a friendly, professional, and mission-driven manner.

Provide information about Habitat OC’s mission, programs, and community impact.

Assist donors with unloading, sorting, and staging donations.

Ensure all donors receive timely assistance and a positive experience at the ReStore.
Quality Control & Processing

Inspect incoming donated items for cleanliness, condition, and compliance with donation guidelines.

Determine the appropriate disposition of items that do not meet quality standards (e.g., recycling or disposal).

Accurately document, categorize, price, and prepare items for merchandising.

Assist in maintaining organized records of donations received.
Store & Warehouse Support

Support ReStore staff and volunteers in processing, organizing, and moving items to the sales floor.

Assist with merchandise display and replenishment to ensure an attractive, shopper-friendly environment.

Collaborate with warehouse and donation teams to ensure efficient inventory flow.

Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized donation area and ReStore environment.
Team Collaboration & Training

Work closely with Store Management to ensure donation processes are efficient and consistent.

Share donor feedback and suggestions for process improvement.

Participate in training sessions on donation standards, safety, and customer service.

Support the training of new staff and volunteers on donation intake and quality control procedures.
Safety

Follow all ReStore and Habitat OC safety policies and procedures.

Report hazards, unsafe practices, or damaged equipment immediately.

Maintain compliance with OSHA and Cal/OSHA safety standards.

High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or training in customer service a plus.

1–2 years of experience in retail, warehouse, or customer service setting preferred.

Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record required.
