First Baptist Church of Jeffersonville is looking for dependable, caring Nursery Workers (four possitions) to help provide safe and loving care for infants and toddlers during Sunday morning church activities.
This is a great position for someone who enjoys working with young children, is patient and responsible, and wants to serve families in a church setting.
Position Summary
Nursery Workers help care for children from infants through age 4 during Sunday morning worship and Bible study.
Each scheduled shift is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and includes time for setup, childcare, and cleanup on Sundays.
We plan to schedule two nursery workers each Sunday. No nursery worker under age 18 will ever be scheduled to work alone. Any employee ages 16–17 must work with an adult employee age 21 or older.
Pay
This position pays $50 per Sunday shift.

Main Responsibilities
Nursery Workers are responsible for helping provide a safe, clean, and welcoming nursery environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Arrive on time and prepare the nursery before children arrive.
- Provide safe, loving, and attentive care for infants and toddlers up to age 4.
- Supervise children actively at all times.
- Help children feel calm, welcomed, and cared for.
- Work cooperatively with the other nursery worker scheduled that day.
- Communicate kindly and respectfully with parents and guardians.
- Follow all church safety policies, including check-in and check-out procedures.
- Report any injuries, incidents, safety concerns, or supply needs to the pastor or children’s ministry leader.
- Help with simple nursery activities or curriculum if assigned.
- Keep the nursery reasonably clean and organized during the shift.
- Clean, sanitize, and reset toys, supplies, and nursery areas after use.
- Leave the nursery ready for the next use.

- Be able to provide attentive supervision.
- Be respectful and professional with children, parents, volunteers, staff, and church leaders.
- Be punctual and reliable for scheduled Sunday shifts.
- Be willing to follow church safety policies and nursery procedures.
- Pass a background check and provide references.
- Be CPR certified or willing to become CPR certified within 3 months of employment.
The church will pay for CPR certification if needed.
Minimum age for employment is 16 years old. Employees ages 16–17 must always be scheduled with an adult employee age 21 or older.
Work Environment
This is a part-time Sunday morning position in a church nursery. The Nursery Worker will work with another scheduled nursery worker and will be supported by the Senior Minister, Christian Education leadership, or designated children’s ministry supervisor.
Because this position involves children, safety, trust, and dependability are very important.
