Position Purpose:
The Body Shop Estimator appraises vehicle damage to determine the cost of repair for insurance claim settlements and customer pay repairs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Examine damaged vehicles to determine the extent of structural, body, mechanical, or interior damage.
- Estimate the cost of labor and parts to repair or replace each damaged item.
- Review repair cost estimates with the body shop manager or foreman.
- In the event of a disagreement regarding repair costs, arrange for another appraisal to resolve the situation.
- Determine the feasibility of repair versus replacement of parts such as bumpers, fenders, and doors.
- Evaluate the practicality of repair versus payment of the vehicle’s pre-accident market value.
- Determine salvage value on total vehicle losses.
- Prepare insurance forms detailing repair cost estimates and recommendations.
- Estimate costs for repainting, specialty conversions, or customization of undamaged vehicles.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any accidents to a manager or supervisor.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Body Shop Estimator is required.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must perform all duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment testing, including background check, MVR, drug screening, and possess a valid driver’s license.
