Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our maintenance team dedicated to heavy equipment, industrial machinery, and vehicle repair. This role involves diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of diesel-powered equipment, including farm machinery, construction vehicles, and industrial systems. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, and alignment procedures to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, HVAC units, and complex mechanical components.
- Fabricate parts or modify existing components using power tools, welding equipment, and hand tools as needed.
- Operate heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailer trucks for testing or repair purposes.
- Inspect and repair farm machinery and industrial equipment to meet safety standards and operational efficiency.
- Assist in assembly and disassembly of equipment during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed service records for each piece of equipment serviced or repaired.
- Support customer service efforts by providing clear communication regarding repairs and maintenance schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to heavy lifting, welding, soldering, and other technical procedures.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Technician or Mechanic with dealership or industrial background preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, engine repair (including diesel engines), transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques such as welding and soldering.
- Familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and trailer-trucks.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of vehicle maintenance procedures including shocks & struts, wheel alignment, HVAC systems, brakes & tire service.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with attention to detail in diagnosing issues accurately.
- Strong communication skills for effective customer interactions and team collaboration.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity over extended periods. Pay: $24.00 - $30.56 per hour
