POSITION SUMMARY
The Dishwasher/Barback keeps Charcuteria running behind the scenes — supporting both the kitchen and the Wine & Bar Station with ware-washing, restocking, and cleanliness. This dual BOH/bar support role is a strong entry point into the team, with a clear growth pathway into other stations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Wash, sanitize, and organize dishware, glassware, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout service
- Restock bar supplies (glassware, ice, garnishes, beverages) and support the Wine & Bar Station during peak service
- Support Food Prep Specialists with basic prep tasks, ingredient staging, and cleaning as needed
- Maintain cleanliness standards across kitchen, bar, and shared team spaces, including bathroom touch-up cleans per team-effort protocol
- Assist with receiving, breaking down deliveries, and stocking BOH storage areas
- Follow opening and closing checklists for ware-washing and bar-support duties
- Support trash/recycling removal and general facility upkeep
QUALIFICATIONS & CERTIFICATIONS
- Established sanitation experience (proper ware-washing, cleaning/sanitizing protocols, cross-contamination awareness) strongly preferred
- Prior kitchen, bar-back, or BOH experience helpful but not required — this is a strong entry-level role
- Reliable, team-oriented, and willing to jump between kitchen and bar support as needed
CROSS-TRAINING & FLEXIBILITY
- Comfortable rotating between BOH, bar support, and light Retail Floor/prep tasks as coverage requires
- All positions at Charcuteria are cross-trained across departments (Charcuterie Counter, Wine & Bar, Coffee Bar, Retail Floor/Market, and BOH) — team members should expect to rotate and support other stations as business needs require
- Flexibility to support catering and events work streams (prep, packing, delivery, or on-site service) as scheduling requires
- We're glad to train the specifics of our program, but we're especially looking for people who already have a genuine interest in food, wine, coffee, and hospitality
- Willingness to grow into and contribute other skills beyond the core role (e.g. digital marketing/social content, light handy work/facilities support, events help) as opportunities arise
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs
- Comfortable with repetitive ware-washing tasks and fast-paced, high-volume periods
- Evening, weekend, and holiday availability required
GROWTH PATH
Dishwasher/Barbacks are on a defined growth pathway toward Food Prep Specialist, FOH Specialist, or Mixologist roles as they build skills and tenure.
