Position Summary
Works under the direction of a supervisor within an assigned area of Chancery Court to assist Chancellors, other departments of the court, attorneys and civilians involved in litigation within Chancery Court as well as serving the public.
Pay Grade: 41
Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education
Minimum Qualifications
- Three (3) years of appropriate clerical, bookkeeping, data processing or statistical work; AND
- High school diploma or possess a GED.
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Examines legal documents submitted to the court for adherence to court or legal procedures, accepts payments and issues receipts, explains courtroom procedures or forms to requesting parties.
- Maintains the system of records and files in Chancery Court, including (but not limited to) storage, organization, rotating, transferring, copying, and certifying of court documents.
- Provides information to various attorneys, state and county officials; transfers all requested cases to the appropriate requested entity.
- Receives, maintains, and processes court documents in one or more areas within Chancery Court as assigned by Clerk and Master and/or CAO.
- Performs special projects or activities as assigned by manager/supervisor.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or directed.
KSAs
- Knowledge of Chancery local rules, Tennessee Rules of Civil Procedure, regulations and courtroom procedures as well as electronic case management system(s).
- Experience with Microsoft products including Windows, Outlook, Excel and Word is required.
- Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work with court officials, the public and co-workers with courtesy and tact.
- Ability to perform accurate arithmetical computations, analyze and solve problems and exercise good judgement.
- Must possess good organizational skills with the ability to maintain an established system of records and files.
May require specialized knowledge, skills or abilities in specified work functions or areas within Chancery Court.
