JOB TITLE: Substance Use Counselor
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Mental Health Worker 2
SALARY RANGE: Range 10
REPORTS TO: Project Supervisor
Professional work in the area of drug and the alcohol Use. Work includes direct patient care with an active caseload, consultation with other agencies and educational presentations.
1. Provides group education and intervention at the jails or other sites.
2. Completes administrative paperwork, including progress notes, case formulations, etc.
3. May work as instructor in DUI class or intensive outpatient program.
4. Consults with referral sources.
5. Presents consultation & education programs on substance Use to the public.
6. Responsible for the storage and protection of consumer records.
6. Performs other related duties as required.
7. Must meet productivity requirements set forth by the agency
Ability to provide therapeutic counseling for clients and complete required paperwork.
Knowledge of substance Use and the skills to apply various therapy techniques in the treatment of substance Users and their families.
Ability to establish effective working and professional relationships with clients, client’s family, referral sources, staff, and the general public.
Must be calm, flexible, organized and able to handle a fast pace.
Possess organizational and oral and written communication.
Must demonstrate the ability to work well with staff and clients in a polite, respectful and dignified manner.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or Substance abuse counselor certification
