Hours: Monday–Friday | 2:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Summary:
We are seeking an afternoon custodian to help maintain the cleanliness and safety of the Dexter Early Elementary Complex (DEEC) and Transportation Department. This position is responsible for performing daily cleaning tasks throughout both facilities to ensure they remain clean, organized, safe, and welcoming. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while taking pride in maintaining a clean and well-kept environment.

Responsibilities:
-
Perform cleaning duties in various areas such as rooms, hallways, lobbies, restrooms, and corridors as assigned

Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum hallways, stairs, and office spaces
-
Polish and wax floors, as well as clean and extract rugs and carpets
-
Dust furniture and equipment
-
Empty trash containers and dispose of waste
-
Wash windows, door panels, sills, and other general areas
-
Replenish restroom supplies and maintain cleanliness
-
Refill cleaning and general supplies in classrooms or rooms upon request
-
Conduct minor repairs and maintenance tasks within the building
-
Report major repair needs to management
-
Clear snow and debris from sidewalks and designated areas, and salt icy surfaces
-
Arrange tables and chairs in auditoriums, rooms, or halls as needed
-
Address minor cleanups or accidents promptly
-
Follow established safety protocols and procedures
-
Assists in other areas as directed by building principal or supervisor
Requirements:
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
Previous custodial experience preferred
-
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and overhead work
-
Capable of working independently and collaboratively with a team
-
Must have reliable transportation as travel within the district is required throughout the day

Ability to work with administration, staff and bargaining unit members
-
Strong attention to detail
-
Punctuality and regular attendance are essential

Excellent communication skills
