The Rebar Detailer is responsible for interpreting civil, structural, and architectural drawings to produce shop drawings and bar lists for the fabrication and placement of reinforcing steel (rebar). This role plays a vital part in ensuring the correct dimensions, quantities, and placement of rebar for projects.
Role & Responsibilities
- Interpret civil, structural, and architectural blueprints and specifications.
- Create precise and complete rebar placement drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD preferred).
- Generate bar bending schedules and cut lists for fabrication.
- Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and fabricators to resolve discrepancies or respond to RFIs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (ACI, CRSI, ASTM) and customer specifications.
- Review and update shop drawings as needed to reflect design changes.
- Maintain accurate revision of histories, drawing logs, files and documentation.
- Manage assigned projects and timelines effectively.
- Ability to communicate with both internal and external customers regarding schedule expectations and updates.
- Perform other administrative tasks.
What we are looking for
- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience as a rebar detailer
- Degree or diploma in technical engineering, architecture, or building design;
- Skilled in CAD software (AutoCAD); familiarity with 2D/3D modeling tools;
- Ability to accurately translate civil, structural, and architectural drawings into fabrication instructions;
- Strong understanding of geometry, trigonometry, and arithmetic related to material take-offs and bar lengths;
- High degree of accuracy in drawings and documentation;
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines;
- Problem-solving, collaborative, and a growth mindset for continuous improvement and process efficiency.
