Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join a professional healthcare team. The ideal candidate will assist dentists during patient procedures, maintain a clean and organized clinical environment, and provide exceptional patient care while ensuring compliance with infection control and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during examinations and dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and materials before patient appointments.
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment.
- Take and record patient medical histories and vital information.
- Prepare patients for treatment and provide chairside assistance.
- Take dental radiographs (X-rays) in accordance with state regulations, if certified.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care instructions.
- Maintain accurate patient records using electronic dental record systems.
- Ensure compliance with infection prevention, OSHA, and HIPAA guidelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering dental supplies.
- Schedule and coordinate patient appointments as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Current Dental Assistant certification, registration, or licensure as required by the state.
- Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required based on facility).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a dental clinic, hospital, or public health setting.
- Experience assisting with restorative, preventive, and emergency dental procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic dental records (EDR).
- Experience taking digital dental X-rays.
Pay: Up to $29.00 per hour
