Position Summary:
Under general supervision, responsible for plumbing work installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, and associated equipment. Inspects/tests water, steam disposal, oxygen, vacuum, and natural gas systems. Performs all plumbing work in compliance with all codes, regulations, etc. May also do general maintenance and repair tasks.
Job Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
1. After review of blue prints or sketches/drawings of assignment, accurately estimates quantity and type of materials needed for plumbing work to be performed.
2. Install, maintain, modify and repair all plumbing systems and associated plumbing equipment.
3. Inspect, test, maintain and repair water, steam disposal, oxygen, vacuum, and natural gas systems.
4. Adhere to current rules and regulations related to plumbing so that systems pass inspection the first time.
5. Complete work orders, record material utilized on jobs and other required documentation.
6. May also perform general maintenance and repair tasks as required.
7. Perform other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Training beyond high school in related programs/advanced training in plumbing.
- Minimum of four years of related experience.
- Journeyman’s plumber license.
- Valid State driver's license.
- Driving record must be within the approved insurance company’s regulations.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in health care industry.

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and policy and procedures manuals.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Demonstrated ability to trouble shoot and repair systems in a timely manner.
Demonstrated skill to accurately estimate time and materials in a project.
Knowledge of organizational and departmental policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality in patient and personnel communications.
Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Demonstrated ability to interact with people at various levels in a courteous, tactful and poised manner.

1. Powered Industrial Truck Operator certification within 12 months of hire or transfer.
2. Must obtain required Michigan Licensure within 1 year of hire or transfer.
Preferred - Journeyman’s Plumber license.
