Position Summary:
The Infection Preventionist/Staff Development Coordinator is a crucial member of our healthcare team, responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring infection prevention and control practices throughout the facility. This role involves identifying risks, educating staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and ultimately safeguarding the health and well-being of our residents and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate the facility's infection prevention and control program based on current guidelines and regulations from organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and state and local health departments.
- Investigate and manage suspected outbreaks of infectious diseases, including implementing control measures and reporting as required.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to infection prevention policies and procedures, including hand hygiene, environmental cleaning and disinfection, sterilization and high-level disinfection, and standard and transmission-based precautions.
- Conduct regular rounds throughout the facility to assess infection control practices and identify potential risks.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, therapists, and environmental services, to integrate infection prevention strategies into all aspects of resident care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of infection surveillance, interventions, and training activities.
- Stay current with emerging infectious diseases, best practices in infection prevention, and changes in regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee the facility's antibiotic stewardship program.
- Coordinate and lead nurse aide training programs, conduct new-hire orientations, and deliver continuous in-service education to current staff.
- Ensure all staff certifications, facility protocols, and care plans are completely up-to-date and adhere to regulatory guidelines
- Promote a culture of learning by encouraging staff engagement in professional development opportunities.
- Oversee employee health program (immunizations, flu shots, covid testing, etc.)
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado, or other relevant clinical licensure (e.g., Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Prior experience is preferred, preferably in long-term care or infection prevention.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is preferred or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
- Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control principles, practices, and regulations.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to infection surveillance.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Demonstrated commitment to quality resident care and a safe work environment.
- On-call rotation required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
