Middle School English Language Arts - Long Term Substitute Teacher

The Environmental Charter School is seeking a highly dedicated and motivated individual for the position of Substitute English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher. Successful candidates must be progressive minded and embody a can-do spirit and work ethic.

OVERVIEW
The ECS English Language Arts Teacher has strong teaching abilities, an understanding of reading and writing pedagogy and instructional practices in middle grades education, and a strong interest in environmental studies. The ECS ELA/Literacy teacher works in a highly collaborative environment. Teachers make deep connections with students through the ECS it's Looping Model, and work to develop skills and relationships with students through more than one year. The ECS ELA/Literacy teacher works closely with his/her grade level team, specifically the Cultural Literacy Teachers (English and SS certified teachers), to create distinct, relevant, and consistent reading and writing instruction in service of content. Candidates should be energetic and progressive minded, with a willingness to work collaboratively with grade level and vertical teams.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Certification in the appropriate grade level and subject area
- Minimum of 3-5 years teaching experience preferred
- Familiarity with charter schools and middle grades students
- Demonstrated experience in integrating subjects/content for middle grades students
- Demonstrated ability to be able to work in a collaborative teaching team
- Workshop model experience highly desirable
COMPENSATION
$150/day plus participation in a generous 403b retirement plan after 400 hours worked.
