Position Summary:
The Kitchen Manager supports the mission and atmosphere of The Leaves by overseeing the daily operations of the kitchen with professionalism, warmth, hospitality, patience, organization, and excellence. This role helps create an exceptional dining experience for patients, residents, staff, families, and guests through quality food service, thoughtful leadership, creativity, cleanliness, teamwork, and attention to detail.
The Leaves desires food service that feels welcoming, nourishing, beautiful, and memorable. The Kitchen Manager plays an important role in helping meals, gatherings, and special events reflect a high standard of hospitality and care. This position is responsible for helping meals and events run smoothly and seamlessly while maintaining a calm, organized, gracious atmosphere throughout the dining experience.
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for leading kitchen operations, supporting kitchen staff, maintaining food quality and safety standards, helping ensure regulatory compliance, and contributing to an atmosphere of warmth, excellence, and hospitality throughout the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold and support the mission, atmosphere, and service values of The Leaves
- Demonstrate patience, kindness, professionalism, hospitality, orderliness, flexibility, creativity, and teamwork in daily responsibilities and interactions
- Oversee daily kitchen operations including food preparation, meal service, cleanliness, organization, and workflow.
- Help ensure meals are prepared and presented with consistency, quality, beauty, timeliness, and attention to detail
- Strive for food service that reflects excellence, comfort, nourishment, and hospitality for patients, residents, staff, families, and guests
- Assist in planning and preparing menus that are balanced, appealing, creative, practical, and appropriate for the needs of the facility
- Help create a dining experience that feels warm, welcoming, thoughtful, and enjoyable
- Coordinate and execute food preparation and hospitality support for special events, gatherings, workshops, donor events, holidays, and community activities
- Help ensure events and catered functions run smoothly, seamlessly, professionally, and graciously from preparation through cleanup
- Work collaboratively with leadership and event coordinators to help create excellent guest experiences during organizational events and gatherings
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, food safety practices, and compliance with applicable health regulations and inspection standards
- Monitor kitchen inventory, food rotation, storage practices, and supply levels
- Assist with food ordering and coordination with vendors as directed
- Maintain records, logs, temperature checks, cleaning schedules, and other documentation related to kitchen operations and inspections
- Support and supervise kitchen staff by helping encourage professionalism, cooperation, consistency, and strong work habits
- Assist with orientation and training of kitchen staff as needed
- Communicate effectively and respectfully with leadership, staff, patients, residents, families, vendors, and guests
- Monitor kitchen equipment and report maintenance or repair needs as appropriate
- Help support an organized, calm, and efficient kitchen environment during both routine operations and busy event periods
- Participate fully in team-based support and reflect The Leaves’ service values of grace, readiness, hospitality, professionalism, and care
- Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to assist with weekends, holidays, or special events as needed
- Assist with additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by leadership
Supervision and Accountability:
- Reports to the Development & Operations Manager and/or Executive Director
- Works collaboratively with kitchen staff, maintenance, housekeeping, Christian Science nursing staff, and other departments
- Helps support smooth communication and coordination related to meal service, hospitality, and events throughout the facility

Qualifications:
- Experience in kitchen leadership, food service management, hospitality, catering, event food service, or related culinary environments preferred
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, kitchen operations, catering coordination, and meal preparation
- Ability to maintain cleanliness, organization, efficiency, and professionalism in a fastpaced environment
- Ability to lead with patience, professionalism, consistency, creativity, and teamwork
- Warm, service-oriented attitude with strong hospitality skills
- Ability to help execute events and guest experiences smoothly and seamlessly
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and good judgment
- Physically able to perform kitchen responsibilities including standing, lifting, bending, and moving throughout the workday
- Flexibility to assist with weekends, holidays, and special events as needed
- Culinary training or equivalent experience preferred
- Must have a clean background check
Pay: $52,669.37 - $70,000.00 per year
