Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation and setup of HVAC systems, including air conditioning units, boilers, and refrigeration equipment
- Support technicians in diagnosing and repairing HVAC system issues using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools like ohmmeters, and troubleshooting equipment failures
- Participate in routine maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, system inspections, and preventative upkeep to ensure optimal performance
- Learn to read and interpret technical schematics and HVAC design plans for various projects
- Aid in the repair of mechanical systems and mechanical systems repair tasks under supervision
- Help with electrical diagnostics and troubleshooting electrical systems within HVAC units and building automation systems
- Support the servicing of plumbing components related to HVAC systems and assist with equipment troubleshooting as needed
Skills
- Basic construction experience combined with a strong mechanical aptitude
- Familiarity with schematics, HVAC design concepts, and electrical diagnostics tools such as ohmmeters
- Knowledge of refrigeration principles, air conditioning systems, boilers, ammonia refrigeration or other specialized cooling systems
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, welding, equipment repair, and property maintenance is highly desirable
- Understanding of HVAC system installation procedures along with HVAC system maintenance practices
- Customer service skills to effectively communicate with clients and team members
- Valid driver’s license (including <PERSON> driver if applicable) for field service travel to job sites
- EPA certification or willingness to obtain certification for refrigerant handling
- Mechanical knowledge related to building automation systems and electrical systems within HVAC/R environments
- Experience with appliance repair or property maintenance is a plus
