Overview
The Scribe, Ohio's statewide nonprofit arts newspaper, is hiring a full-time Business Development & Sponsorship Manager to help grow organizational revenue through advertising, advertorials, sponsorships, partnerships, and other promotional opportunities.
This is a relationship-driven business development role with base hourly compensation, uncapped commission, and performance incentives. We are seeking an experienced professional who can independently develop new business, build long-term relationships, present Apollo Press's products and services with confidence, and generate sustainable revenue that supports our nonprofit mission.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates should already have professional experience in business development, sponsorship sales, advertising sales, media sales, fundraising, account management, or partnership development.

Published by the nonprofit Apollo Press, The Scribe distributes 4,000 copies monthly across more than 200 community locations throughout Ohio, including libraries, cafés, galleries, museums, universities, arts venues, and cultural institutions. We feature artists, exhibitions, performances, organizations, and cultural development across the state.
Apollo Press offers organizations multiple opportunities to reach our audience through print advertising, sponsored editorial content (advertorials), publication sponsorships, promotional campaigns, event partnerships, and other collaborative initiatives that strengthen Ohio's creative community.
Responsibilities
- Develop new business relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Prospect and schedule meetings with prospective advertisers, sponsors, and partners.
- Present Apollo Press's advertising, advertorial, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities.
- Sell print advertisements, advertorials, sponsorships, promotional campaigns, and customized partnership packages.
- Develop proposals that align Apollo Press's offerings with each organization's goals.
- Negotiate agreements and close new advertising, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline from initial outreach through signed agreement.
- Build long-term client relationships that encourage recurring business.
- Coordinate contracts, invoicing, and fulfillment with administrative staff.
- Collaborate with the Social Media & Community Marketing Specialist when sponsor or advertising packages include digital promotion.
- Represent Apollo Press professionally at networking events, business organizations, community functions, and arts events throughout the Toledo and Columbus metropolitan areas.
- Expand existing client relationships through additional advertising, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities.
Work Structure
- Hybrid position with remote administrative work and regular in-person meetings throughout the Toledo and Columbus metropolitan areas.
- Daily communication responsiveness is expected during the workweek.
- Flexible scheduling centered around business meetings, networking events, and community outreach.
- Occasional evening networking events or weekend community functions may be required.
- Reliable transportation is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience in business development, sponsorship sales, advertising sales, media sales, fundraising, account management, or partnership development.
- Demonstrated success generating new business and closing sales.
- Comfortable presenting products and services during in-person meetings.
- Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Experience managing an active sales pipeline.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Comfortable representing a nonprofit organization in professional settings.
- Interest in arts, culture, nonprofit organizations, or community development preferred.

- Base hourly pay plus uncapped commission
