Position Summary:
We are seeking a dependable and compassionate Dining Services Assistant to join our team. This position supports daily dining services and helps ensure our residents receive nourishing, well-balanced, appealing meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
The Dining Services Assistant works under the direction of the Dietary Manager and follows facility policies and procedures, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations and food-safety standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Preparation & Meal Service
- Prepare food, snacks, and nourishments according to established recipes, dietary requirements, sanitation standards, and facility procedures.
- Assist with food preparation and meal production as directed.
- Make only authorized substitutions to menus and nourishment lists.
- Assist with timely meal service while ensuring food is appetizing, properly garnished, and served at the appropriate temperature.
- Follow portion-control procedures and extended menus for residents requiring specific diets.
- Serve food from the steam table and/or transport meal trays to designated areas.
- Follow residents’ documented food preferences and dislikes according to their diet cards.
- Complete necessary food preparation and pre-prep to ensure supplies are ready for the following day's production.
- Assist with preparation for special meals, events, parties, and other dining functions.
Cleaning & Sanitation
- Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary food preparation, dining, storage, and work areas.
- Complete assigned cleaning duties and sign required cleaning schedules.
- Sweep and mop floors as directed.
- Remove trash and maintain work areas that are clean, dry, safe, and free of hazards.
- Perform dishwashing and ware-washing duties as assigned.
- Move supplies, stock, and equipment as needed to complete cleaning and department duties.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, safety, and infection-control procedures.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all applicable dining services policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Promptly report hazardous conditions or malfunctioning equipment to the Dietary Manager.
- Report accidents and incidents according to department policies.
- Maintain resident confidentiality and protect resident rights at all times.
- Follow the department's scheduled and timed activities.
- Follow facility dress, grooming, and hygiene requirements.
- Participate in emergency procedures, including fire control and resident evacuation when required.
- Respond appropriately to fire alarms when working alone in the kitchen.
Teamwork & Resident Experience
- Create a warm, respectful, and welcoming atmosphere for residents, visitors, and team members.
- Provide service with patience, courtesy, and a positive attitude.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Dining Services staff and other departments.
- Help new Dining Services employees feel welcome and supported.
- Attend required in-services, workshops, seminars, and staff training.
- Participate in departmental studies, projects, and quality-improvement activities as assigned.
- Work cooperatively with the Dietary Manager and other team members to meet residents' dining needs.
Additional Duties
- Assist the Cook with meal preparation as needed.
- Assist with special meals, parties, and community events.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Dietary Manager or as needed to support the department.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
