Position Summary:
Are you a motivated leader with a passion for retail and customer service? Kennie’s Markets is seeking a Grocery Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Grocery Department. This role is accountable for the department’s profit and loss (P&L) and requires strong leadership, merchandising expertise, and sound business decision-making. As Grocery Manager, you’ll ensure customers receive top-quality products and an exceptional shopping experience every time they visit.

Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve departmental goals in sales and gross profit.
- Manage supply, payroll, inventory, and waste to maintain profitability.
- Follow proper accounting procedures, including invoices, transfers, and inventory tracking.
- Order products in sufficient quantities, ensure correct pricing, and maintain quality/freshness through proper rotation.
- Oversee product stocking, display, and rotation to maximize visual appeal, including seasonal, sale, and high-demand items.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager and Grocery Specialist on merchandising, planning, scheduling, sales trends, and process improvements.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary department on the sales floor, in cases/coolers, and backroom areas.
- Ensure all Grocery Department employees follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Oversee proper maintenance and care of all department equipment.
- Support store-wide promotions and collaborate with other departments as needed.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the Assistant Store Manager or Store Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Directly supervise 4–8 Grocery Department employees.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required; 2–4 years of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with customers, employees, and management.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Basic math skills including calculating discounts, percentages, and inventory figures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in situations with limited standardization.
