American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Med Surg position requiring a minimum of 3 years of experience and stepdown-specific skills, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring.

Acute care stepdown and med/surg unit with 20 beds
-
Patient population includes respiratory issues, weakness, UTI, AKI, and chest pain
-
Stepdown nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3; floor ratio is 1:5-6
-
Two nursing aides are assigned per shift
-
RNs are required to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, Cardizem, and amiodarone
-
Telemetry is present on the unit and monitored remotely at Ruby
-
RT equipment in use includes CPAP, BiPap, and high-flow oxygen
-
EMR: Epic
-
12-hour night shifts
-
3 weekend shifts required per 4-week schedule
-
Holiday rotation required (evenings or days)
-
No on-call or standby requirement
-
No floating requirement
-
Active WV or compact RN license required
-
Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and ACLS

Minimum 3 years of RN experience required

Stepdown experience required

Valid, unexpired driver's license required for consideration

Any licensing encumbrances or disciplinary history must be disclosed

Unit orientation provided

Royal blue scrubs required

A house supervisor is on staff; no charge nurse on unit

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for this position

Travelers who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a minimum 2-year break before reapplying

Travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one cumulative year without a 2-year break

2 references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference and 1 peer or additional supervisor reference; if the candidate worked a permanent position within the last 12 months, one supervisor reference must be from that employer
