Machine Setup Technician – Manufacturing
A Machine Setup Technician is responsible for preparing, setting up, adjusting, and maintaining manufacturing equipment to ensure efficient production and quality standards are met. This role supports production operations by performing machine changeovers, tooling installations, equipment adjustments, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Set up and prepare production machinery for scheduled manufacturing runs.
- Perform tooling changes, die changes, and machine adjustments according to production specifications.
- Calibrate and adjust machine settings to maintain product quality and operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot mechanical or operational issues and make necessary corrections during production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, setup sheets, and production schedules.
- Inspect tooling and equipment for wear or damage and report maintenance needs.
- Conduct first-piece inspections and verify measurements using precision measuring instruments.
- Collaborate with operators, maintenance, and quality teams to minimize downtime and improve productivity.
- Ensure machines are operating safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA regulations.
- Maintain accurate setup, tooling, and production documentation.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or machine setup environment preferred.
- Knowledge of machine operation, tooling, and mechanical adjustments.
- Ability to use hand tools, measuring devices, and setup equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read technical drawings and manufacturing instructions.
- Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, move, or carry materials up to specified weight limits.
- Ability to bend, reach, and work around industrial machinery safely.
