Job Overview
Joy Valley House is a new, licensed 6-bed Residential Care Facility for the Elderly located in the South San Jose / Almaden area. We provide a warm, home-like environment for seniors, with a focus on respectful care, comfort, safety, and quality of life.
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate, and reliable caregiver to join us as we grow. Because we are a new facility, hours are currently limited and may start as part-time or per diem. As more residents move in, there may be opportunities for more regular shifts and increased hours.
Mandarin-speaking ability is strongly preferred, as we aim to support seniors and families who may feel more comfortable communicating in Mandarin and who appreciate Chinese foods, culture, and family-style care.
Duties
- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility
- Provide respectful companionship and emotional support
- Assist with meals, snacks, hydration, and basic food preparation
- Support a home-like environment, including light housekeeping, laundry, and tidying resident areas
- Assist with medication reminders and documentation, as allowed by RCFE regulations and training
- Monitor resident safety and report changes in condition to the Administrator
- Help residents participate in daily routines and simple activities
- Follow care plans, facility policies, and licensing requirements
- Provide care for residents with early dementia or Alzheimer’s disease,
Preferred qualifications:
- Prior hands-on caregiving experience required;
- Experience caring for seniors in an RCFE, board-and-care home, assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing facility, IHSS, home care, CNA, or HHA setting preferred
- Mandarin-speaking ability strongly preferred
- Comfortable assisting with toileting, bathing, dressing, transfers, meals, and daily care routines
- Able to recognize and report changes in resident condition
- Patient, dependable, gentle, and respectful with elderly residents
- Able to communicate clearly with residents, families, and the Administrator
- Willing to complete required background clearance, health/TB screening, training, and employment documentation
- Reliable transportation to the South San Jose / Almaden area
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
