Marketing Content Strategist
Location: Central, SC
Classification: Regular, Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff
Position Summary
Responsible for developing, producing, and managing content that supports recruitment, advancement, and engagement efforts. This position creates compelling stories and marketing assets that communicate the university's value proposition to prospective students, families, donors, and community stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
Content Strategy & Brand Storytelling
- Execute marketing content strategies that support recruitment objectives in coordination with the Associate Director of Marketing, as well as for the university as a whole.
- Develop brand messaging and storytelling initiatives.
- Translate academic programs, student experiences, and institutional strengths into compelling content to share across multiple marketing channels including email, web, social media, Slate, digital advertising, and print.
- Maintain consistent messaging across all communication channels.
Content Creation & Production
- Create and manage recruitment and advancement-focused content including:
- Email campaigns
- Social media content
- Recruitment and donor-focused publications
- Print collateral
- Website content
- Photography projects
- Video content
- Digital advertising creative
- Write and edit enrollment and advancement marketing copy for multiple audiences.
Digital Content Management
- Coordinate content publishing schedules across social media platforms.
- Manage content assets and creative production workflows.
- Maintain content calendars and production timelines in collaboration with the Associate Director Marketing.
- Ensure all content aligns with university brand standards and enrollment and advancement priorities.
Creative Collaboration
- Work with Admissions, Advancement, Academic Programs, and Student Life to gather stories and content.
- Coordinate photographers, videographers, freelancers, student workers, and creative vendors in collaboration with the Associate Director Marketing.
- Assist in developing campaign creative concepts and messaging.
Performance Optimization
- Review content engagement metrics and campaign performance data.
- Recommend content improvements based on audience response.
- Conduct A/B testing of messaging and creative assets.
- Optimize content for engagement and conversion goals.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years in marketing, communications, content creation, or digital media.
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, specifically in marketing or media communication related subject matter
- Strong writing, editing, storytelling, and content development skills.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, video production, and social media platforms.
- Understanding of higher education marketing and recruitment communications.
- Portfolio demonstrating successful marketing campaigns and content creation.
Technical Skills
Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in:
- Google Analytics (GA4), Tag Manager, and digital reporting tools
- Digital advertising platforms including Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager
- Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or related content tools
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Project management systems such as Monday.com
