About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant to provide accounting and financial management support for a nonprofit organization operating federally funded programs. The ideal candidate will have strong nonprofit and government accounting experience, with hands-on knowledge of Deltek Costpoint mandatory.
This role involves managing financial transactions, reconciliations, reporting, grant billing support, and audit preparation while ensuring compliance with GAAP and federal funding requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Review and post accounts payable transactions.
- Verify account coding accuracy and recommend corrections when necessary.
- Post accounts receivable transactions and cash receipts.
- Maintain accurate financial records within the accounting system.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports.
- Generate Accounts Payable Aging Reports, Statements of Activities, Balance Sheets, and Variance Reports.
- Assist management with financial analysis and reporting needs.
Payroll & Timesheet Accounting
- Post payroll-related transactions to the general ledger.
- Review timesheet allocations and leave accruals.
- Ensure accurate recording of labor costs and leave balances.
Grant & Federal Funding Support
- Prepare grant reimbursement requests and billing documentation.
- Support reporting requirements related to federally funded programs.
- Assist with financial reporting for government grants and contracts.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal regulations, including 2 CFR Part 200.
General Ledger & Reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
- Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Maintain the integrity of financial records.
Audit Support
- Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for annual audits.
- Collaborate with external auditors during audit engagements.
- Assist with financial documentation requests.
Collaboration & Support
- Provide ongoing accounting guidance to internal staff.
- Participate in meetings and respond to financial inquiries.
- Support continuous improvement of accounting processes and controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3+ years of accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with nonprofit, government-funded, or grant-funded accounting.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Experience preparing financial statements and reconciliations.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint.
- Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Timekeeping, and Billing modules within Costpoint.
- Experience supporting HUD-funded programs.
- Knowledge of federal grant compliance requirements.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA certification is a plus.

Pay: $62,545.78 - $75,323.95 per year
