JOB SUMMARY: LPN to function in a clinical setting, demonstrating professional and clinical knowledge dedicated to Family Medicine, caring for patients from pediatrics to geriatrics. Support and communicate with other clinical and non-clinical staff, while caring for patients and performing routine medical procedures and tests in conjunction with patient visits. Responsible for completing assigned duties in a timely and efficient manner and maintaining nursing care standards through consistent enforcement of facility policies and procedures.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, AND TRAINING REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (LPN).
- Valid NCS LPN license.
- Maintains current BCLS certification
- Previous medical office experience preferred with demonstrated competency in the performance of duties specific to infant, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Strong computer skills.
- Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
- Maintain strictest confidentiality and discretion.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
Essential Functions
- Perform initial triage/ assessment and prepare patient for examination by performing reviewing history, collecting current information and checking vital signs.
- Ability to use interpersonal skills to establish/maintain cooperative relationships with patients, families, members, physicians/providers, managers, co-workers, and external customers.
- Model office core values of caring, commitment, integrity, and teamwork to internal and external customers (i.e., patient, family, Provider).
- Obtains lab specimens, give injections, and performs routine medical tests following established procedures
- Provide patient education
- Set up room and equipment for procedures, operates and maintains equipment; sterilizing equipment and cleans area as needed.
- Documents nursing observations, assessments, medications, treatments and other care given
- Triage patients via incoming calls in a professional manner.
- Checking and responding to patient, pharmacy, and physician messages in a timely fashion.
- Experience obtaining prior authorizations on medications and procedures
- Experience performing EKG, PFT, and X-rays
- Sorting and distributing faxes
- Delegating tasks to medical assistants.
- Maintains inventory of supplies, medications, and pharmaceuticals, and places special orders
- Maintain strictest confidentiality and discretion.
- Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
- Supervise medical assistants and aid with various duties and projects.
Marginal Functions
- Participates in quality assurance programs, attends safety and staff meetings and in-services.
- Arranges for or conducts in-service education for staff on clinical issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Environment: Work in light temperature-controlled environment M-Th 8 am - 5 pm or 9 am - 6 pm, F 8 am - 12 pm.
