Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Spray Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for applying chemical agents safely and efficiently. Your expertise will help ensure all pesticides and fertilizers are used for treating plants, trees, shrubs and ground covers, to promote growth and manage weeds, insects, disease, etc. by performing the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Responsibilities
- Apply herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers, and other landscape treatment products according to label instructions and company standards.
- Inspect turf, trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants to identify weeds, insects, diseases, and other landscape health issues.
- Operate and maintain spray equipment, tanks, pumps, hoses, spreaders, and related tools.
- Mix and prepare chemical solutions accurately and safely.
- Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding pesticide handling, storage, transportation, and application.
- Maintain required applicator licenses, certifications, and continuing education requirements.
- Monitor treated areas and evaluate effectiveness of applications.
- Keep accurate records of chemical usage, application rates, treatment locations, weather conditions, and service activities.
- Identify and report safety hazards, property damage, equipment issues, or environmental concerns.
- Perform routine equipment inspections, cleaning, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Load and unload chemicals, materials, and equipment safely.
- Assist with general landscape maintenance activities as needed.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain clean and organized vehicles, equipment, and storage areas.
- The Spray Technician provides instruction and training to Gothic Landscape crews regarding chemical application methods, storage requirements, and safety protocols for all applicable products and materials.
- Completes and sends a monthly report to State Agency Department of Pesticides.
- Orders and inventories of all chemicals needed for applications.
- Maintains “LOCKED” storage unit for the secure containment of all chemicals.
- Held responsible for all spray equipment, inclusive but not limited to storage, training and maintenance.
Requirements
- Knowledge of ornamental pest and disease identification, turf management, weed control, and integrated pest management (IPM) practices.
- Knowledge of pesticide application techniques, calibration, mixing procedures, and equipment operation.
- Ability to safely handle, transport, store, and dispose of pesticides and fertilizers in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ability to maintain accurate pesticide use records and regulatory documentation.
- Understanding of landscape plant health care principles.
- Physical ability to perform outdoor work in varying weather conditions while using hand tools or power tools for extended periods
- Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), Category B (Landscape Maintenance) or Qualified Applicator License (QAL), Category B (Landscape Maintenance), preferred
