A precision manufacturing company serving the aerospace and other highly regulated industries is seeking an experienced Aerospace Quality Inspector to join its Quality team.
The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing receiving, first-piece, in-process, first article, and final inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies. This position ensures products conform to engineering drawings, customer specifications, quality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements prior to release or shipment.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience inspecting complex machined components, strong blueprint and GD&T knowledge, and proficiency with precision measurement equipment.
- Perform receiving, first-piece, in-process, final, and First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, models, procedures, and GD&T requirements.
- Verify dimensional conformance using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipment.
- Review applicable customer requirements, purchase orders, material certifications, and supplier documentation.
- Prepare and support First Article Inspection documentation in accordance with applicable quality requirements.
- Accurately document inspection results and maintain required quality records.
- Identify and document nonconforming materials or components.
- Assist with root-cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Work collaboratively with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and other departments to resolve quality concerns.
- Communicate inspection findings and quality issues clearly and accurately.
- Support internal and external quality audits.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inspection methods, quality processes, and manufacturing performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection environment.
- Perform other quality-related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of quality inspection experience within aerospace, precision machining, or a comparable high-precision manufacturing environment.
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related inspection tools.
- Experience performing dimensional and visual inspection of machined components.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Experience performing First Article Inspections.
- Familiarity with AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Professional quality inspection certification, such as an ASQ Certified Quality Inspector credential.
- Previous experience inspecting complex aerospace or other highly regulated precision-machined components.
- Experience working with customer-specific aerospace quality requirements and inspection documentation.
