Changes Plastic Surgery is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical team as a Pre-Operative Nurse. This role is responsible for guiding patients through every aspect of their surgical preparation while ensuring they are medically optimized, thoroughly educated, and confident before surgery.
As one of the first clinical touchpoints in the surgical journey, the Pre-Operative RN plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional patient experience while maintaining the highest standards of safety, clinical excellence, and personalized care. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and experienced in caring for plastic surgery or other elective surgical patients.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive pre-operative nursing assessments for surgical patients.
- Review medical history, medications, allergies, prior surgical history, and risk factors to ensure surgical readiness.
- Obtain and document vital signs and complete required clinical documentation.
- Educate patients regarding their procedure, anesthesia expectations, medication management, recovery, and post-operative care instructions.
- Coordinate medical clearances, laboratory testing, imaging, EKGs, and specialist consultations as required.
- Review and ensure completion of informed consents and all required surgical documentation.
- Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, patient care coordinators, medical assistants, and outside healthcare providers to ensure a seamless surgical experience.
- Identify potential clinical concerns and communicate findings promptly to the surgeon or appropriate provider.
- Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Assist with protocol development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Support clinical operations and provide additional nursing care as needed.
- Deliver a concierge-level patient experience through compassionate communication, professionalism, and exceptional attention to detail.
Qualifications
- Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Minimum of four (4) years of Registered Nurse experience required.
- At least four (4) years of experience caring for pre-operative surgical patients strongly preferred.
- Plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), perioperative, or outpatient surgical experience is highly preferred.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR); Nextech experience is preferred.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA standards.
Pay: $40.00 - $60.00 per hour
