American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a 337-bed hospital in Charlotte, NC, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.

32-bed Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit with an average census of 32 patients
-
Patient population includes stroke, seizure, altered mental status (AMS), generalized weakness, AKI/CKD, falls, cellulitis, and non-healing wounds
-
RN patient ratio is 1:5-6, with potential surge ratios up to 1:7-8
-
12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM, 36 hours per week

Every other weekend (EOW) rotation required
-
Floating required within Region 2, which includes Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, and the Central Division (CMC Main, CMC Mercy, and Levine Children's Hospital) — candidates must be willing to float to all listed facilities

No on-call or call-back requirements

EMR: Epic (experience required)

Equipment includes Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, Philips monitors, and Rover communication devices

Facility is a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, but is not a trauma-designated or teaching hospital

Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license required

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required

Minimum 18 months of Med/Surg Tele experience required, with most recent experience within the last year

Cardiac rhythm interpretation skills required

Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amiodarone) required

General medical/surgical skillset required

Candidate's permanent address must be located at least 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Minimum of one professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Telemetry monitoring is managed on-unit by staff, charge/clinical supervisor, and unit clerk — there is no remote tele monitoring team
-
Unit support includes CNAs (1:12 ratio), a receptionist/HUC, a free-floating charge nurse, 24/7 phlebotomy, a 24/7 IV/VAT team, a dedicated unit pharmacist, two case managers, a MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist, 24/7 respiratory therapy (performs nebulizer treatments), a nurse educator, 24/7 hospitalist, and APP support

Orientation includes a New Employee Orientation (NEO) followed by 2 days of departmental orientation

Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
