Giving Tree Pet Spa & Lodge – Alexandria is a family-owned pet resort located in the heart of Alexandria, VA. We are looking for an attentive, punctual, and engaged Receptionist & Pet Care Attendant to join our team. We're looking for a dependable, energetic team member who enjoys working with both people and pets. This is a hybrid position that includes front desk responsibilities (3 days per week) and pet care/playroom duties (1–2 days per week). The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys multitasking, provides exceptional customer service, and is passionate about ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of every pet in our care.
Responsibilities
- Welcome clients and check dogs in and out
- Answer phones, emails, and schedule appointments
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming lobby
- Supervise dogs in playgroups and kennels while ensuring their safety and comfort
- Monitor dog behavior and help prevent conflicts
- Provide potty breaks, feeding, medications (when needed), and basic pet care
- Keep playrooms clean and organized
- Maintain accurate care notes and communicate with the team
- Support daily operations wherever needed
Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required
- Loves dogs and enjoys helping people
- Thrives in a fast-paced, multitasking environment
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Can remain calm and professionally handle challenging situations
- Is reliable, punctual, and a strong team player
- Can safely handle dogs of all sizes (including occasional lifting)
- Has previous experience in pet care, daycare, kennel, veterinary, or customer service (preferred)
- Experience with Gingr software is a plus
