Job Overview
Join our team at Hickory Hollow Nursery & Garden Center as a Nursery & Garden Center Associate. This is a customer-facing position that combines customer service, retail sales, plant care, and general nursery work.
You will spend time both inside and outside, helping customers find the right plants and products while also helping keep the nursery and garden center clean, organized, stocked, and looking its best.
The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable working with customers. A basic knowledge of plants, gardening, or retail is helpful, but previous nursery experience is not required. We are willing to train the right person who has a good attitude and a willingness to learn.
Duties
- Assist customers with selecting plants, gardening supplies, and other garden center products
- Provide basic information about plants, plant care, lawn care, and landscaping when able
- Learn our products and plants so you can become more confident assisting customers
- Operate the POS system, process sales, handle cash, and provide accurate receipts
- Answer phone calls and assist customers with general questions or direct them to the appropriate team member
- Stock and organize merchandise and maintain attractive displays
- Help keep the front of the nursery, garden center, and customer areas clean and organized
- Water, maintain, and care for plants as needed
- Help pull and prepare customer orders
- Assist customers with loading plants and other purchases when needed
- Help with general nursery tasks, including moving merchandise, organizing plants, pricing, tagging, and restocking
- Work with other team members to provide a positive customer experience

- Ability to work in changing weather conditions
- Basic computer skills are helpful
- Retail or nursery experience is preferred but not required
- Basic plant knowledge is helpful but we are willing to train the right person
- Must be a quick learner and willing to develop new skills

You do not need to know everything when you start. We are looking for someone who is dependable, willing to work, and eager to learn.

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
