Job Description The High-Risk Domestic Violence Counselor provides critical support to individuals facing high risk domestic violence situations. This role includes comprehensive risk assessment, crisis intervention, trauma informed counseling, safety planning, and connection to necessary legal and community resources to enhance client safety and well-being.

Location:Niagara Falls
Job Objectives To provide assessment of risk, crisis intervention, safety planning, connection to resources and trauma informed support to individuals at high risk for domestic violence.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough assessment to identify victims at high risk of homicide or severe violence.
2. Develop individualized safety plans with clients to minimize potential harm and maximize safety.
3. Provide immediate support and resources during crisis situations, including facilitating access to shelter.
4. Provide individual counseling
5. Connect client with appropriate community resources
6. Provide court accompaniment
7. Complete orders of protection and Family Offense orders
8. Maintain updated community referrals and resources for initial and follow-up sources for victims and their families.
9. Document all correspondence with victims, prosecutors, police and parole officers, family members, community agencies and all other involved parties.
10. counseling services, social services and/or mental health agencies, housing services and other pertinent services or agencies.
11. Attend team meetings and trainings
12. Occasional travel required
13. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required.
· Experience: Minimum of 3 years of counseling experience in domestic violence or related fields.
· Skills: Strong understanding of trauma informed care, knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence and associated risk factors, excellent interpersonal, crisis intervention, and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with legal, medical, and social service systems, and strong organizational skills and attention to documentation and confidentiality.
Pay: $43,000.00 per year
