Job Summary
The Hotel Houseman is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in all assigned lobby areas, back office, breakfast, front desk areas, public restrooms, elevators, special cleaning assignments and performing other housekeeping duties as necessary. He/she must work to promote safety in all guest areas by following strict procedures with respect to passkeys, entry into guestrooms, and reporting any suspicious activity. The ideal individual for this position demonstrates a commitment to maintaining high quality standards and attention to detail. 90 day probationary period.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean all hard and textile surfaces and restrooms within public space; and respond to guest room requests if needed.
- Keep the parking lot and all exterior areas of the hotel (including the pool area) clean and free from debris.
- Monitor and control supplies and amenities in the assigned areas.
- Clean employee break room and bathroom. Keep clean lobby, front desk area, breakfast area, back office area, and all public areas.
- Ensure internal windows and doorways are free of fingerprints and smudges.
- Ensure that furniture and hard surfaces of public areas are clean and organized.
- Ensure floors are free of debris. Clean any carpet spots.
- Ensure all surfaces of elevators are clean and free of debris.
- Report, turn in, and/or log all lost and found items to Front Desk according to established procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining Brand Standards throughout the Hotel.
- Be familiar with correct guestroom cleaning procedures to assist if needed. Be familiar with Marriott QA standards.
- Provide feedback in regards to damages or missing items and report any work orders to Executive Housekeeper / Maintenance department.
- Use only the cleaning agents issued and mixed by the housekeeping department.
- Vacuum guest corridors.
- Ensure that furniture and hard surfaces of public areas are clean and organized.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in public restrooms.
- Adhere to the schedule for project cleaning of public areas.
- Maintain the stairwells to hotel standards.
- Keep ash urns clean and filled with sand.
- Before leaving, collect all trash from the service landings and take to/dispose in outside trash dumpsters, per hotel procedures. Empty all waste receptacles in public areas throughout the shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Requirements include basic reading, writing and math skills and some housekeeping experience is preferred.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner. Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines. Attend all hotel required meetings and training.
Working Conditions
- May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Must be able to work with challenging clients / employees.
Physical Requirements
Flow of work and character of duties involve the coordination of manual dexterity and normal and visual attention. This job requires ability to perform the following: carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing and/or pulling approximately 200 pounds, frequently standing up and moving about the facility, frequently handling objects and equipment to maintain the facility, frequently bending, stooping and kneeling.
