We are seeking a Part-Time Associate Attorney to join our growing legal team. This is a flexible, remote position designed for an attorney who is comfortable working directly with prospective clients, managing immigration matters, and supporting attorneys across multiple practice areas.
The attorney’s primary responsibility will be conducting prospective-client consultations in coordination with our intake team. These are generally short, focused consultations designed to evaluate the prospective client’s legal needs, explain potential immigration options, answer preliminary legal questions, and help qualified prospective clients make an informed decision about retaining the firm.
The attorney will also maintain and manage an assigned immigration caseload as secondary counsel, with responsibility for providing competent representation and moving matters efficiently from intake through resolution.
As a third component of the position, the attorney may provide secondary attorney support to other firm divisions, particularly Family Law and Civil Litigation. Prior experience in these areas is preferred but not required. Training, supervision, and mentoring will be provided where the attorney lacks experience in a particular practice area.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Prospective-Client Consultations & Retention
- Work closely with the firm's intake team to conduct short consultations with prospective clients.
- Review intake information and identify potential immigration issues, remedies, risks, and next steps.
- Explain legal options, anticipated processes, and potential representation in clear and understandable terms.
- Identify prospective clients who may benefit from legal representation and discuss the scope and value of the firm's services.
- Assist prospective clients in moving from consultation to retention when representation is appropriate.
- Maintain a professional, ethical, and client-centered approach throughout the consultation and retention process.
- Communicate with the intake team regarding appropriate follow-up and next steps.
2. Immigration Case Management & Representation
- Manage an assigned immigration caseload under the firm's case-management procedures.
- Provide legal advice and representation in matters involving family-based immigration, humanitarian relief, removal defense, naturalization, adjustment of status, waivers, and other immigration matters.
- Prepare and review petitions, applications, motions, briefs, declarations, and supporting documentation.
- Represent clients before USCIS, EOIR, and the BIA, as appropriate based on experience and case assignment.
- Conduct legal research and develop case strategies based on applicable statutes, regulations, agency guidance, and precedent.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure assigned matters progress efficiently.
- Maintain accurate case notes and organized electronic files using the firm's case-management systems.
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, deadlines, and required documentation.
3. Cross-Practice Attorney Support
- Provide secondary attorney coverage and support to other firm practice areas as needed, particularly Family Law and Civil Litigation.
- Assist with legal research, drafting, discovery, motion practice, hearings, case preparation, and other attorney-level assignments.
- Provide coverage for hearings, appearances, conferences, or other matters when appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the managing attorney and attorneys responsible for the firm's other practice divisions.
- Develop competency in additional practice areas through firm-provided training, mentoring, and supervision.
- Prior family-law or civil-litigation experience is helpful but not required.
Qualifications
- Active license and good standing with a U.S. state bar.
- Immigration-law experience required.
- Experience conducting legal consultations or communicating directly with prospective clients is highly desirable.
- Ability to quickly evaluate a prospective client's circumstances and communicate potential legal options clearly.
- Strong legal research, analysis, and writing skills.
- Ability to independently manage assigned matters while working collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, legal assistants, and intake personnel.
- Strong organizational and deadline-management skills.
- Professional judgment and commitment to ethical client representation.
- Comfortable working in a technology-driven and primarily remote legal environment.
- Willingness to learn and assist in additional practice areas when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with removal defense and/or family-based immigration.
- EOIR or USCIS appearance experience.
- Family-law or civil-litigation experience.
- Courtroom or administrative-hearing experience.
- Spanish fluency or professional proficiency.
- Experience with legal case-management and client-intake systems.
Position Structure
The position is intended to focus primarily on:
- Prospective-client consultations and retention;
- Management and representation of an assigned immigration caseload; and
- Secondary attorney support for other firm divisions, particularly Family Law and Civil Litigation.
The successful candidate should therefore be comfortable combining client consultation and business-development responsibilities with substantive legal representation. The firm will provide training and support for secondary practice areas where the attorney does not yet have substantial experience.
