Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) setting, located in Salinas, CA. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients’ lives by assisting them in regaining independence and improving their quality of life. You will work closely with licensed occupational therapists to deliver personalized care plans, support patient recovery, and promote functional abilities across diverse populations, including geriatrics, pediatrics, and individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders. Your expertise will help facilitate patient progress through targeted interventions and compassionate care.
Duties
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and safety.
- Implement and support individualized care plans developed by occupational therapists, ensuring treatment goals are met effectively.
- Provide occupational therapy interventions for clients with autism, childhood developmental delays, neurodevelopmental disorders, and disabilities to enhance their functional skills.
- Support patients during therapy sessions in inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facility, and home health settings using manual handling techniques and safe patient transport methods.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to monitor patient progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust interventions as necessary.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using medical terminology and physiology knowledge to ensure compliance with healthcare standards.
- Assist with medical imaging procedures or related activities when required within the scope of practice.
Experience
- Prior experience working in skilled nursing facilities (SNF), inpatient hospitals, outpatient clinics, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience assisting with ADLs and providing therapy for patients with geriatrics, pediatrics, or neurodevelopmental delays.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or childhood developmental delays.
- Familiarity with occupational health protocols and safe manual handling techniques for patient care.
- Exposure to acute care settings or inpatient environments that require quick adaptation and comprehensive patient support.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare teams and educate patients about their therapy routines.

Pay: $1,862.00 - $1,962.00 per week
