A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a Lead Electrical Engineer – Energy Parks, you'll lead the electrical engineering execution of some of the industry's most complex and innovative energy infrastructure projects. You'll provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams while establishing electrical engineering standards, mentoring engineers, and ensuring designs are safe, reliable, constructible, and compliant with industry codes and client requirements.
Your day may involve collaborating with Owners, Engineers of Record (EOR), Project Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, and equipment manufacturers to develop electrical system designs, review engineering packages, coordinate utility interconnections, and resolve complex technical challenges across multiple concurrent projects. Projects may combine renewable energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), gas generation, simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants, substations, transmission infrastructure, controls, and data center power systems into integrated energy campuses designed to meet the growing demand for reliable power.
STEP INTO THE ROLE
-
Lead the electrical engineering execution of large-scale Energy Parks and integrated energy campus projects from estimating through construction support and project closeout.
-
Develop preliminary electrical designs for proposals, incorporating power quality, system reliability, constructability, cost efficiency, and Blattner best practices.
-
Lead Basis of Design (BOD) development, electrical engineering reviews, RFIs, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
-
Review electrical one-line diagrams, protection and control schemes, grounding systems, cable routing, substation designs, equipment layouts, transmission interfaces, and third-party engineering packages to ensure quality and compliance.
-
Coordinate electrical engineering activities with Project Engineering, Estimating, Integrated Supply Chain, Construction, Owners, utilities, and Engineers of Record (EOR).
-
Support electrical equipment selection, procurement, vendor evaluations, and technical submittal reviews.
-
Lead constructability reviews, value engineering initiatives, and technical risk assessments to improve project execution and proposal competitiveness.
-
Mentor and develop Engineer I, Engineer II, Senior Engineers, and CAD Designers by providing technical guidance, product reviews, and promoting engineering best practices.
-
Drive electrical engineering standards, lessons learned, and continuous improvement initiatives across Blattner's growing Energy Parks portfolio.
-
Support the successful integration of renewable energy, battery storage, gas generation, substations, transmission infrastructure, and data center electrical systems into unified, reliable energy campuses.
-
Serve as the technical electrical engineering resource for complex design challenges throughout all phases of project execution.
