Why does the job exist?
The Cimarron Canyon/Eagle Nest Lake Administrator position exists to provide administrative and financial support to the larger more complex Parks and Santa Fe Office. The Park Administrator manages the budget for Cimarron Canyon and assists with Eagle Nest Lake, ensuring purchasing, payments, and inventory are managed appropriately. The Park Administrator provides guidance and training on procurement, budgeting, and finance policies, procedures, and standards to park staff. The Park Administrator ensures that their individual parks are operating effectively and following standardized procedures related to procurement and inventory. The Park Administrator is relied upon to provide advice and recommendations to the Park Superintendent/Manager for improving operations and fiscal accountability. This position will also assist with tracking and managing of seasonal hire, rehire, and exit packets, as well as assisting with maintenance or landscaping as needed through the year. This position will also assist visitor relations at the visitor centers and provide park information when requested.
How does it get done?
Assist the Superintendent and park management with budget tracking, procurement, and project development, dedicating 25% of your time to administrative and operational support. Key duties include managing bi-weekly time-sheets, monitoring budgets for monthly reports, preparing weekly revenue and visitation summaries, and processing quotes, invoices, and project requests in coordination with the Region Office.
Manage administrative and financial operations by tracking budgets, processing purchases, and maintaining budgetary files. Responsibilities include conducting seasonal employee orientation, assisting with cash register preparation and balancing, and managing petty cash reimbursements to ensure efficient park operations.
Assist park staff with field operations, revenue collections, and general maintenance of park and boating facilities, vehicles, and equipment. Additionally, maintain visitor centers to strict standards of care, and perform snow removal and ice mitigation duties as required.
Who are the customers?
Internal and external customers, visitors throughout the state of New Mexico and surrounding states who are campers, hikers, and boaters that come to visit the park for a variety of reasons. Local community businesses in surrounding areas of the park.
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field and three (3) years of experience performing budget preparation, financial document preparation and management, policy/program analysis, budget monitoring, governmental accounting, and/or federal grant reporting.
- Experience with Excel spreadsheets and mail merges with MS Word.
- Experience with the NM Procurement Code and NM government statutes and rules related to procurement.
- Experience creating vouchers, reports, and purchase orders in the SHARE financial system.
- Bilingual (Spanish)
Minimum Qualification
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
Pay: $21.95 - $32.94 per hour
