Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Controls Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic industrial maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing wiring, installation, configuration, and programming of control panels and automation equipment, including sensors, barcode scanners, inspection camera systems, PLCs, and VFDs. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical and control system issues to ensure reliable equipment operation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine performance by increasing production output and product quality while reducing scrap rates and labor costs.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems and sensors to ensure operational efficiency.
- Troubleshoot electrical issues using schematics, wiring diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Maintain and calibrate industrial control devices such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, vision inspection systems, and distributed control systems (DCS).
- Enhance machine performance
- Read electrical schematics and blueprints to identify system components and troubleshoot equipment failures effectively.
- Conduct electrical safety procedures during maintenance activities to uphold compliance with safety standards.
- Support the installation of new equipment by wiring control panels, setting up sensors, and integrating automation components with existing systems.
- Document all maintenance activities accurately in logs and reports (OEE board, preventive maintenance logbook, and machine log); collaborate with engineering teams on troubleshooting complex issues involving CNC machinery or other automated equipment.

Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage wiring, electrical instrumentation, schematics reading, and blueprint interpretation.
- Experience with industrial electrician tasks such as calibration, equipment troubleshooting, and electrical diagnostics.
- Proficiency in programming engineering controls like PLCs (including Calypso or similar platforms) and understanding of industrial automation concepts.
- Familiarity with pneumatic systems, hydraulic components, piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), sensors, vision inspection systems, and CNC machinery.
- Ability to read electrical blueprints and schematics accurately; skilled in using precision measuring instruments like ohmmeters for diagnostics.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and best practices for working on electrical systems within an industrial environment.
- Mechanical knowledge related to equipment maintenance, including troubleshooting mechanical failures that impact electrical or control systems.
- Experience working with distributed control systems (DCS), low voltage controls, sensor integration, calibration processes, and programming in engineering environments.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members at all levels.
Qualifications
● 3-5 years’ experience wiring of control panels and installing/programming: sensors, barcode scanners, inspection camera systems, PLC’s, VFDs, etc. Troubleshooting electrical issues and trouble-shooting manufacturing equipment
● Must have the ability to recognize problems independently and to troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment and controls without direct supervision
● Must have a working knowledge of the tools and test equipment used for testing and repairing production equipment
● Must also be able to read and comprehend blueprints, electrical schematics, and engineering specifications. The ability to use shop math is required
